Imprint Aspect
One of the core services the Occultist offers is imprinting Legendary powers onto items. The Legendary powers, which are stored in what are called Legendary Aspects, can come from 2 sources:
- Codex of Power: each completed Dungeon rewards the player with a specific Legendary Aspect. These Aspects are easier to obtain, but they're less powerful (roll with the lowest stats).
- Extracted from Legendary items: the Occultist can extract a Legendary power from any Legendary item and store it in a Legendary Aspect. These are often more powerful.
Imprinting restrictions
Players should be aware of the following restrictions when imprinting Aspects:
- Rare and Legendary items are eligible for imprinting. Rares are upgraded to Legendary quality, and Legendaries have their existing Legendary affix overwritten
- Many Aspects are class-based
- Each Aspect can only be imprinted on certain equipment slots
Aspect type | Equipment slots |
---|---|
Defensive | Amulet, Chest, Helm, Pants, Shield |
Mobility | Amulet, Boot |
Offensive | Amulet, Gloves, Ring, Weapon |
Resource | Amulet, Helm, Ring |
Utility | Amulet, Chest, Gloves, Helm, Ring, Shield |
Previewing imprinted items
After the player has chosen the source of the Legendary Aspect to imprint (either the Codex of Power or an Aspect from their Inventory), they're given a preview of the modified item. The Aspect's power will always be listed last, with a star icon and "Imprinted" in front of it.
Imprint Aspect cost
In Open Beta, imprinting Aspects cost about 5,000 Gold and 5x Veiled Crystals.
TOPExtract Aspect
The Occultist can extract a Legendary affix/power from any Legendary item and store it in a Legendary Aspect. This process destroys the Legendary item, while the new Legendary Aspect goes into the player's Inventory (into the "Aspects" tab). The player can then decide whether to imprint the Aspect into another Legendary item or stash it away for future use.
Extract Aspect cost
Players will need to be selective with which Legendary items' powers they remove because the Occultist's Extract Aspect service is expensive. From Open Beta experience, Aspect extraction cost around 15,000 Gold.
TOPCraft Sigils
Nightmare Sigils are used to unlock Nightmare Dungeons, the hardest Dungeons in Diablo 4 and where players will find their best gear, including Sacred and Ancestral items, and Glyphs for Paragon Boards. The Occultist can craft new Nightmare Sigils with random properties.
Nightmare Sigil tiers
As Nightmare Sigils increase in tier, they:
- Have additional afflictions (i.e., affixes that alter the Dungeon), increasing the Dungeon's difficulty and loot quality
- Require higher World Tiers
- Cost more Gold and Sigil Powder
Tier | Affixes | World Tier | Powder | Gold |
---|---|---|---|---|
1-5 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4,000 |
6-10 | 3 | 3 | 6 | 6,000 |
11-15 | 4 | 3 | 11 | 8,000 |
16-20 | 4 | 3 | 20 | 10,000 |
21-25 | 5 | 4 | 50 | 13,000 |
26-30 | 5 | 4 | 80 | 16,000 |
31-35 | 5 | 4 | 125 | 19,000 |
36-40 | 5 | 4 | 190 | 22,000 |
41-50 | 5 | 4 | 275 | 26,000 |
51-60 | 5 | 4 | 350 | 30,000 |
61-70 | 5 | 4 | 375 | 35,000 |
71-80 | 5 | 4 | 400 | 40,000 |
81-90 | 5 | 4 | 425 | 45,000 |
91-100 | 5 | 4 | 450 | 50,000 |
Salvage Sigils
Nightmare Sigils are somewhat plentiful, so players will have excess ones that they can take to the Occultist to salvage. The salvage process creates Sigil Powder, which can be used to create new Sigils, also using the Occultist. The lowest tier Sigils cost under 10 Sigil Powder, while the highest ones cost close to 100 Sigil Powder.
TOPEnchant item
Players often find items that are one affix away from being great items (e.g., an item with a Dexterity-based affix for a Barbarian character). The Occultist can solve this problem with its Enchant Item service, which allows a player to swap out one of the item's affixes.
A player can place an item into the Occultist's Enchant interface and then select which affix they'd like to replace.
Pay before knowing affix choices
The catch with the process is that a player must pay before seeing the new affix options; however:
- No change option: if the player doesn't like any of the new affixes, they can choose to not modify the item (but still lose their invested crafting cost)
- Affixes beneficial to Class: from Open Beta experience, the new affixes are either usually or always beneficial to the player's Class, increasing the odds at least one will be satisfactory
Item becomes untradable
A secondary catch is that the item becomes account-bound (i.e., untradable) after its enchanted.
After choosing a new affix, the player is shown the modified item. The enchanted affix will have a small blue change icon beside it:
Enchant item cost
The cost of enchanting an item scales with its Item Power. Enchanting a 700+ Item Power item can cost hundreds of thousands of Gold, and the more times a player enchants an item, the more expensive the service gets.

The Occultist is represented on the map with an icon that's 3 circles and an upside-down triangle.
