World Tier 5(?)
The Open Beta showed four World Tiers in its menus; however, Blizzard had previously said there were five (Adventurer, Veteran, Nightmare, Hell, and Torment). For some reason -- either it was redundant or it'll reappear later -- World Tier 4: Hell was removed and replaced with Torment, so there's only four World Tiers now..
TOPFinal boss at end of last World Tier
In addition to progressing through the various end-game activities, Blizzard says players can look forward to one final, epic challenge: an end-game boss at the end of the last World Tier. We don't know if this will be a showdown with Lilith, the return of Diablo, or someone else, but it'll require top gear and the player to be at or around the max level of 100:
We'll see if the mighty Kripparian, the first player to slay Diablo on Diablo 3's Inferno Hardcore mode can rise to the occasion again.
TOPHow to switch World Tiers
Larger towns in each region, like Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks, have special statues that players can click on to select a different World Tier. The one in Kyovashad is a huge statue of Inarius that rests on the northern end of town.Players can switch to any World Tier they've unlocked.
Hard-easy-hard gameplay flow
Before downgrading World Tiers, though, know that Blizzard intentionally wants Diablo 4 players to go through bouts of feeling challenged, then dominating, and then back to being challenged [1]. Sometimes, all it takes is a good loot drop or an extra level to pull out of a challenging time:
