What is Bloodmarked?
Bloodmarked (or Marked for Blood) is a PvP status indicating that a player can attack other players and be attacked by other players (i.e., PvP mode) while in the Fields of Hatred. Bloodmarked players have a red ring and fire around them.
Blizzard created the status because the Fields of Hatred support both PvE and PvP gameplay. In fact, players aren't Bloodmarked by default when they enter the Fields of Hatred and must turn it on.
Access to Baleful Chests
Only Bloodmarked players can open Baleful Chests, which are found in the Fields of Hatred and contain Seeds of Hatred, items, and Gold.
How to turn on Mark for Blood?
Emote Wheel
The easiest way to turn on Mark for Blood is with the Emote Wheel ('e' keybind on PC). This can be done while in the PvP towns (Alzuuda or Denshar, though there's no attacking in town) or anywhere on the Fields of Hatred.
Starting a Ritual of Hatred
When players begin a Ritual of Hatred to purify their Seeds of Hatred into Red Dust, they automatically become Bloodmarked and can be attacked by other players. Because Seeds of Hatred are useless without converting them, this incentivizes PvE players to take the risk of starting a ritual.
TOPHow to turn off Mark for Blood?
To turn off Bloodmarked, players can visit the Altar of Cleansing in the PvP town adjacent to the Fields of Hatred they're in (either Alzuuda in the Dry Steppes or Denshar in Kehjistan). After clicking the statue, the player is told their Mark for Blood is removed.
