Ghoul monsters in Diablo 4

Zombie-like and flesh craving

In Diablo 4, as in past Diablo games, Ghouls are similar to Zombies: they rise from the dead and feed on corpses. They seem to be fast monsters and congregate in large groups. Blizzard hasn't released any details about the Ghoul monster family other than two screenshots with filenames that end in "_Ghouls", so we know they're confirmed to be in the game.

Ghoul monster types

From the aforementioned screenshots, we can see two types of Ghouls showcased: what appear to be Bruiser and Swarmer archetypes.

  • Ghoul Bruiser

The Ghoul Bruiser is a few times larger than the other Ghouls shown. It wields a massive great sword with a wavy blade. We can also see a bat by its side, although we don't know if this is a companion or separate monster.

  • Ghoul Swarmer

Traveling in large packs, what we believe are Ghoul Swarmers rush towards players, trying to overwhelm them. They're smaller in stature than Bruisers and easier to kill.
