How does the Diablo 4 durability system work?
Item durability has long been a Gold sink in the Diablo series. It returns in Diablo 4.
100/100 starting durability
All items, besides Amulets and Rings (they don't have durability), begin with 100/100 durability.
Lost durability from dying
One of the 2 penalties from dying (the other being backtracking from a Checkpoint) is losing 10% item durability on all Armor and Weapons the player had equipped at the time of death.
Broken items
An item is considered "broken" if it reaches 0% durability. This may be common after repeated deaths in tough Boss or World Boss fight. Diablo 4 notifies the player that one or more of their items is about to reach 0% durability at the death screen.
When an item becomes broken, the player will see a red, broken Sword icon above their Skill bar:
And the broken items will pulse red in their inventory screen:
TOPHow to repair items at the Blacksmith
Players can visit the nearest Blacksmith to repair and restore their items' durability to 100/100. The repair services are on the 2nd tab of the Blacksmith's services. There's 3 repair options:
- Repair in Inventory: left-click the hammer icon and then individually click items in the inventory screen to repair them
- Repair All Equipped Items: click the button to quickly repair any damaged Armor or Weapon that's equipped
- Repair All Items: click the button to repair damaged Armor or Weapons that are equipped or down below in your inventory
