Couch co-op mode in Diablo 4

2 console players in same room

Blizzard introduced couch co-op mode (i.e., two players in the same room playing the game on one console) in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. Seeing that the mode was a hit, Blizzard is bringing it back for Diablo 4 [1], but with a much improved experience.

"We're supporting two player couch co-op on consoles."

Limited to 2 players

Upon analyzing data from past couch co-op play, Blizzard discovered that a vast majority of the mode's usage was by two players; therefore, Diablo 4's couch co-op mode will be limited to two players. This is unlikely to be changed due to the large amount of work that's going into designing the UI menu system for two players.

"We looked at the number of people who utilized this feature in Diablo III and found the 2-player setup accounted for an overwhelming majority."
