Diablo 4 has seamless PC controller support
Similar to Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo 4 supports controllers on the PC [1]. Also, the game's UI for both controllers and keyboard/mouse (KBM) will be the same and easy to switch between:
Open Beta experience with a controller
After logging dozens of hours in Open Beta with our Xbox Elite 2 controller, we thought controller support was top-notch. Input reaction time was fast, and navigating Diablo 4's menu systems felt intuitive. Text-based chatting with friends was cumbersome, as is to be expected with any gamepad, but there's voice chat to compensate. Overall, we were pleased, and controller support for launch should be even better. Note that of the problems we read about, more came from PlayStation controller users than Xbox ones.
Best PC controllers for Diablo 4
Although controllers specifically for the PC exist, many players think that compatible console controllers, like the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core, perform the best. Windows 10 and 11 already have drivers for them, which makes setup easy and play rock-solid.
What's the best input for Hardcore, PvP, and Speedrunning?
We suspect the vast majority of Diablo 4 PC players seriously pursuing alternate game modes, like Hardcore, PvP, and Speedrunning, will opt for the keyboard and mouse combo (KBM), as they have with past Diablo games. The top-tier gaming keyboards and mice offer better precision than controllers, and they make communicating with teammates easier. That said, a controller is a fine alternative for most normal players.
