Cross-platform play in Diablo 4

PC & console players can interact

Blizzard is developing Diablo 4 for both PC (Windows) and console (PlayStation and Xbox), and has confirmed that the game will support cross-platform play [1]. This means that if you're playing Diablo 4 on a PC, and your friend is playing it on the Xbox, both of you can join the same game and play together.

"We've got fully enabled cross-play. If you have an Xbox and your buddy has a PC, you're going to be able to group up."

This differs from Diablo 3, where players were restricted to finding and partying with players on the same system. Given that both the PC and console versions of Diablo 4 will draw millions of players, having all players in one pool will be a boon for features like competitive ladders and party finding.

Cross-progression supported too

In addition to cross-platform play, Diablo 4 will support cross-progression as well, meaning that if you own both the PC and console versions, you can pick up right where you left off regardless of which device you last played on. Diablo: Immortal works this way as well, carrying over your progression from phone to PC or vice-versa.

Console Cross-generation as well

Diablo 4 has all the cross-! For those owning multiple console generations that support Diablo 4, the game will work seamlessly across them [2]. For example, buying the Xbox version of Diablo 4 will allow you to play on your Xbox One, Series S, and Series X, and your progress will be synced across all of them.

"Yeah, it's full cross-play, so cross-generationally."
