Andariel Boss in Diablo 4

An introduction to Andariel

Andariel, "Mistress of Anguish," returns from Diablo 2 and is one of the 4 Lesser Evils of Diablo lore (along with Azmodan, Belial, and Duriel). She's known for inflicting mental pain on her victims, even scaring other demons (and collecting their heads, which hang from her).

Andariel location

In Diablo 4, players battle Andariel at the beginning of Act IV (Quest: Anguish Incarnate), in a flat, desert area of Kehjistan, called Blasted Scarp. Elias has summoned her using Taissa's body.

Andariel Healing Potion drops

Players can expect 3 Healing Potion Charge drops from Andariel, which occur at each upside-down, red triangle on her health bar.

Andariel Stagger bar

Beneath the health bar is Andariel's Stagger bar (see the skull icon), which, when filled from the player's Crowd Control attacks, makes Andariel incapacitated for 12 seconds. Players should use this time to do as much damage as possible.

Andariel special attacks

Rune Chains

One of Andariel's most common attacks is spawning 3 Rune Chains, which have a Tether-like effect, slowing the player and keeping them confined in a small area. Players can avoid the Rune Chains by keeping an eye out for circular cracks in the sand forming and Evading out of their reach. If a player gets caught by the chains, they can quickly destroy the Rune Chain (a few hits) and continue battle Andariel.

Flying Demon heads

Andariel will routinely fire demon heads towards the player, causing damage upon impact. If the player weaves out of the path of the demon heads, the heads will continue on their path, with the player unharmed. The demon heads cause low to medium level damage. Note that after Andariel fires the heads, she levitates and appears at another side of the screen.

Stream of Shadow damage

At some points in the fight, Andariel will stand still and send out three streams of Shadow damage in a Y-formation. The stream causes low to medium damage when stepped in. Players an either wait out the stream (gone after a handful of seconds) or fight Andariel in between the streams.

Wake of Shadow damage

Similar to above, Andariel sometimes creates a cape-like area of Shadow damage behind her, damaging players that are attacking from the rear.

Chain lash attack

Andariel can whip her chains around, causing light damage to nearby players. Her Rune Chains also perform this attack. Later in the fight, the chain is multiple times longer and causes Shadow damage.

Transformation

When Andariel reaches 90% life, she crouches on the ground, casts off her wooden shackles, and grows scorpion-like arms out of her back.

Hair sling attack

After Andariel's transformation, she occasionally rears her head back and then slings her hair and chain forward, shooting a stream of Shadow damage in front of her.

Scorpion arm stab

A common Andariel attack is swinging her scorpion arms, trying to stab nearby players. She also uses them in a jabbing motion.

Sand storm

As the fight progresses, a sand storm constricts the safe area the player can move. Andariel sometimes knocks the player out into the storm, causing mild damage.
