What does the Evade ability do?
Diablo 4's new Evade ability allows players to dash out of a dangerous situation. Perhaps the most common usage will be escaping the reach of Bosses' special moves. All Classes can use Evade, and it's activated by pressing the space bar.
Evade cooldown time
Evade has a 5 second cooldown. Although that may seem short, players will have to strategically plan out their Evade usage during tough Elite and Boss fights. When the cooldown is over, players will hear a subtle ding sound informing them that Evade can be used again.
Faster mobility
Players in Beta quickly realized that Evade can also be used in non-combat situations, hastening movement between two points. While this gives a small, temporary boost to travel (the 5 second cooldown still applies), speedrunners and other top players might utilize this tactic a lot.
TOPIs the combat in Diablo 4 more complex?
Yes. One of the reasons Blizzard created Evade was to force more intentional combat [1] situations. Instead of incessantly clicking the mouse to kill the game's tougher monsters and bosses, players can skillfully time their Evade ability to dodge incoming damage:
Evade in PvP
For PvP players, Evade is key to staying alive. While Bosses have programmed, often predictable attacks, human opponents require even better timing with Evade.
