Special movements to pass obstacles
Diablo 4 is the first game in the Diablo series to allow players to pass horizontal and vertical obstacles, like chasms, cliffs, ladders, and tight spaces. Each one of these obstacles has an associated special movement, activated via the spacebar keybind.
Obstacles on the minimap
Obstacles are denoted on the minimap with propeller-like icons. They usually separate areas within a Region or are placed at the entrances to landmarks, like Strongholds.
Can Mounts jump over obstacles?
Yes, horses can jump over short obstacles; however, they can't do any of the other special movements, like climbing, ducking, sliding, or traversing. Players will have to dismount when they reach these other obstacles and re-mount their horse once through.
TOPClimb cliffs and ladders
Players can go up and down cliffs and ladders. Note that once a climb action is initiated, it can't be stopped until finished (i.e., players can't stop halfway down and enjoy the view).
Duck under debris
Characters can fit through tight spaces by ducking. This movement is less common than climbing and jumping.
TOPJump across chasms
After spending all day slaying demonic monsters, performing death-defying leaps over chasms doesn't seem that much more dangerous.
Slide down slopes
Sliding down snowy slopes should evoke childhood memories.
TOPTraverse ropes
For huge chasms, players can rope traverse. This movement is rare than climbing and jumping.
