Introduction to the Diablo 4 Sorcerer
The Sorcerer is back in Diablo 4, wielding the power of Cold, Fire, and Lightning spells. While the class is the lightest on defense, it packs a powerful punch from a distance [1] with its magic.
Sorcerer highlights
- Enchantment Skill Slots: choose 2 Skills to access their powerful Passive effects
- Cold Skills: slow enemies down while they approach

Mana resource
Each time the Sorcerer uses a Skill, a portion of their Mana is depleted. Mana slowly regenerates with time, requiring the Sorcerer to occasionally back off of battle.
Sorcerer monster executions
Each Diablo 4 class has a few sinister ways to finish off monsters. The Sorcerer has the following monster death animations:
- Burn: the monster's flesh burns off, leaving only a skeleton
- Char: the monster's corpse is singed with lightning
- Shatter: the monster freezes into ice and shatters to pieces
Sorcerer Enchantment Slots
At Level 15, the Sorcerer can unlock the first of its 2 Enchantment Slots via a Class Quest. The second slot comes at Level 30.
When a Skill is placed into an Enchantment Slot, the Sorcerer can access the Skill's Passive effect. All Sorcerer Skills, besides Ultimate Skills, have an Active and Passive effect:
- Active effect: a Skill assigned to a hotkey or mouse button, and operates similar to other classes' Skills (i.e., default Skill behavior)
- Passive effect: a powerful effect that periodically and automatically occurs as long as the Skill is in the Enchantment Slot. Note that players can still use the Skill's Active attack.
