Core Stats in Diablo 4

How does Diablo 4's Core Stats system work?

Attribute types

Core Stats, sometimes called "Primary Stats," consist of 4 attributes:

Diablo 4 Core Stats
Core Stats are shown in lower left of the Character screen

Starting attribute points per Class

Each Class starts the game with a different point combination of these attributes based on their strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Barbarian has the most Strength (10) to help it carry its Weapon Arsenal, but lower Intelligence (7) because it's not performing intricate spells, like the Sorcerer.

Every Class has a total tally of 32 starting stat points (that are spread out differently):

Class DEX INT STR WILL
Barbarian 8 7 10 7
Druid 7 8 7 10
Necromancer 7 10 7 8
Rogue 10 7 7 8
Sorcerer 7 10 7 8

Attribute points' impact on characters

These attribute points go on to affect an array of other stats (thus the name, Core Stats) that dictate how the player's character develops throughout the game. Some attribute effects are universal across all Classes (e.g., Strength increases Armor), while other effects are Class specific (e.g., Dexterity increases the Rogue's Skill damage, but for other classes, it increases Critical Strike Chance). These differences are shown in each attribute's section below.

Increasing attribute points

Unlike past Diablo games, where players were given a set amount of attribute points to distribute each level, Diablo 4 provides a handful of ways to get them throughout the game.

Paragon Board tiles

The Paragon Board end-game system is where players will acquire most of their Primary Stat points. Players become eligible for the system at Level 50, and can invest points into tiles on Paragon Boards. The majority of these tiles provide +5 Attribute bonuses (e.g., +5 Intelligence or +5 Willpower), which players will accumulate many of as they work towards rarer, more powerful tiles that give a whopping +40.

Leveling up

Each time a player levels up, their Dexterity, Intelligence, Strength, and Willpower increase by 1.

Altar of Lilith shrines

Every Region has a set number of Altar of Lilith shrines that provide +2 points for an attribute. If a player finds all of the Altars of Lilith in the game, they'd add 68 points to each attribute.

Items with +Stat and +All Stats affixes

Lastly, items can be an important source for increasing stats, which can roll with affixes that increase a specific attribute (e.g., +10 Strength) or all of them (e.g., +5 All Stats).
