An introduction to the Butcher
The Butcher is one of the most infamous bosses of the Diablo series, appearing in Diablo 1, Diablo 3, Diablo Immortal, and now, Diablo 4. He has goat-like horns on his head, a large, sewn laceration across his chest, and towers above players with his height and girth. Lastly, his iconic weapons, the Butcher's Cleaver and Butcher's Sickle, add to the fantasy of a crazed, demonic slicer of meat.

Butcher spawn location
The Butcher is unique in that he:
- Randomly spawns in any Cellar, Dungeon, or Helltide
- Has less than a 5% spawn rate in these locations
- Can appear in these locations at any player level
- Ambushes players and doesn't show a skull icon on the minimap, like other Bosses
- Vanishes in a pool of blood after the player's first death to him

Butcher Healing Potion drops
Unlike other Bosses, which have 4 Healing Potion Charge drops, the Butcher only has 2.

Butcher Stagger bar
The Stagger bar is displayed underneath the Butcher's Life bar (see the skull icon). It fills when players hit the Butcher with Crowd Control effects (e.g., Freeze or Stun). Once the bar is full, the Butcher is incapacitated for 12 seconds, allowing players to attack him freely.
TOPButcher special attacks
Head slam
The Butcher will periodically rear his head back and lunge forward, attemping to head slam and Stun nearby players. Players should Evade as soon as they see the Butcher's head go back.

Shout
Similar to the Barbarian, the Butcher will arch his back and bellow, temporarily increasing his stats.

Vanishing into blood
Although not an attack, if a player dies while battling the Butcher, the Butcher will do a click-clack motion with his Cleaver and Sickle, then vanish in a pool of blood. The player won't get another chance (that spawn) to battle the Butcher again.

On the other hand, if the player is victorious, the Butcher falls face-forward, spurting blood.
