Character slot limit in Diablo 4

What's the max number of characters allowed?

Multiple players from November 2022's end-game beta test reported that the game had 10 character slots, the same number Diablo 3 launched with. Note that this amount may change before the game releases in June 2023.

Can you buy more character slots?

This is unknown. In terms of purchasing extras in Diablo 4, Blizzard hasn't revealed any quality-of-life improvements, like extra character slots or larger inventory space -- only cosmetic items. It may follow a model like Diablo 3, where extra character slots are bundled with expansions.

Does the game have a shared stash feature?

Blizzard announced a shared stash feature [1] in late 2019. As far as we know, it's still in the game and should reduce the need for creating "mules" (i.e., characters that exist solely for holding items), which inflate players' character counts.

"We want to avoid a situation where you have to trade items between your characters. If you own an item, you should be able to equip it on any of your characters. Currently, we have a shared stash to get around this situation."
