Amalgam of Rage mount in D4

Collector's Edition mount

In April 2022, Blizzard posted Public Test Realm (PTR) notes for World of Warcraft [1] that included an achievement for owners of the Diablo 4 Collector's Edition mount: Amalgam of Rage.

At the time, noone knew what the Amalgam of Rage mount looked like, but, after some dot connecting, it was found that Blizzard had actually posted screenshots of the intimidating beast nine months earlier in their Press Center [2].

Amalgam of Rage screenshots

The Amalgam of Rage mount is a horrific-looking creature. Its six (or seven?) heads each have glowing orange eyes and a mouth filled with dozens of sharp teeth:

Two of the heads have metal rings in them, in which a thick chain rein is run through, presumably for the player character to control the mount with.

The beast's body is composed of a mixture of fur, exposed muscle, and teeth-like spikes (perhaps a Blizzard artist is a fan of the bear-like creature in the movie Annihilation?). Its mish-mash of features is appropriate for its name: Amalgam, which means a blend of something.

Amalgam of Rage video

Blizzard released a half-minute video of the Amalgam of Rage standing in place and panting. The video also shows off the realism Blizzard's art team has achieved with organic surfaces and lighting.
